Project News: Genrec keeps Sasol covered
Genrec is involved in the construction of new warehouses at the Secunda Sasol plant. They have been sub-contracted by Technip S.A to fabricate and erect the necessary structural steel warehouses to increase the storage capacity at Sasol.
Sasol supplies approximately 100 000 tons of 1-octene currently and is aiming to double this supply by the end of 2006 in order to cope with the growing global demand.
The total coverage of the warehouses will be 55 000 square metres. The roof trusses of the structure span an astonishing 45 metres, something not generally seen in warehouse structures.
The project began in May 2004 and is due to be completed in March 2005. The site has been established and Murray & Roberts MEI began the erection on 1 November 2004.
Genrec has been responsible for the design (through Walker, Ahier & Holtzhauzen design engineers) and the manufacture and erection of the structures.
Genrec has played a major role in the construction of the Sasol plants countrywide and are proud to once more be the structural steel contractor of choice for Sasol in these expansion projects.
The Genrec team, led by Shaun Diggeden as the business manager of this project, has played a key role in meeting our client’s needs.
